What is Drupal?
Drupal is a great content management system.
Yes it takes and while to get used to and yes it is not entirely easy to use at times if you want to do some advanced stuff but for what it sets out to do it is fantastic.
When would you want to use Drupal?
1. Easy, easy setup of a website.
You won't have to pay for anyone to build pages for you, no uploading of content to the web, once its setup its very easy to get content onto the site. One great feature is that it essentially builds out categories or silos for you without really trying. You have to add a few links but the structure comes inherent in the way Drupal posts its content.
2. If you are trying to run an E-myth business.
This is an awesome way to have you and your employees move beyond just doing the work, but being able to systemitize and analyze the way in which the work is done. When you do any work, you also want to be documenting that work in Drupal and then next time you or one of your employees needs to do that same job - the instructions are there and waiting for them. Even better, if they have improvements, its easy for them to adjust the instructions and suddenly you are on your way to having a business that continually improves itself!
3. One of the simplest uses - a evolving homepage that you can easily build and update. Right now my homepage is here and everytime I want to make an adjustment, I have to open Smartftp, download the file, open the file, change the file, check the file and upload the file. With Drupal its signin, make the change and its done.
I will be running through the basic steps of getting Drupal up and running, and also run through some of the problems I have run into in trying to do more advanced stuff. But I hope that you will be able to come on board the Drupal revolution and you and your business will really benefit from it.
